Microsoft’s Cortana to debut in India on November 10: Microsoft is keeping itself engaged for the big release of their first update to Windows 10 – Threshold 2 on November 10. It is expected to have a bundle of new updates especially the introduction of its voice assistance app Cortana to the Indian users.
Cortana is a voice-controlled virtual assistant app for Microsoft which helps the users to use their voice as a command to make a call, send a text message, search the web, or open an app. Microsoft’s Cortana will use the Bing search engine and data stored on the user’s smartphone to make personalized recommendations. Cortana can help its users to schedule a meeting, set a reminder for an important task, send automatic replies for callers when you don’t want to be disturbed, get up-to-date traffic or weather info, and much more. It is Microsoft’s take on Apple’s intelligent assistant called Siri and Google’s Google Now assistants.
Microsoft, in one of its blogs, said that Cortana will be available in India via Windows 10 Insider Preview builds 10532+. This means that Cortana for the time being can be used only by the members of Windows Insider programme. This will let its users to test the features before their official rollout. Cortana for PC originally had limited availability, including the US, when Windows 10 came out. Now, with the Windows 10 update it will also be available as an optional download in Nihongo for Japan, in English for Australia and Canada. The company also announced that it will soon expand Cortana’s user base to Brazil and Mexico as well.
