Communication giants like Google, Sprint and others offer free calls to France over Weekend: Our heart goes out to the people living in France and the world is harmoniously coming together for them after the 6 coordinated attacks occurred in Paris this Friday. The unfortunate event left more than 120 people dead and the entire country in grief. Most of the countries are coming forward to show their support and the tech universe is not sitting idle either.
It is very important to stay in contact under such terrifying circumstances as people would like to know about the well-being of those living in France. For this purpose many communication giants have lent out a helping hand. Companies like Sprint, Google, Verizon and even Skype are offering free calls to France.
Google, via Hangouts, was one of the first companies to offer such help by making free calls to France. Since Hangouts works online all one needs is internet data or a WiFi connection. There is convenience on going with Google as one can use it with any Android/iOS device, on any network. However Google hasn’t specified other details like when this offer would start and in which countries it will be available.
After Google, came forward Skype, Verizon and Sprint. Offers by these companies will function over this weekend. The start date has been the same i.e 13th November however the end date is not the same for all. Only Verizon has confirmed the end date as 15th November, others still have to make an announcement regarding this. Even facebook has activated its “safety check” function which allows Parisians to check in and confirm their well-being. All this would be of great help for people who want to get in touch with their friends and families in France.
